Portrait Content Guide
Portrait content format varies by Android TV OS version.
Specifications
In portrait orientation, the left edge of landscape content (16:9) becomes the bottom of the screen. Create content in landscape format (16:9) even for portrait displays. See “02_cosmetic_portrait.jpg” in the sample folder’s media folder for reference.
Portrait format (9:16) content is supported.
For Landscape Content (16:9)
When creating content for portrait installation, design it so the left side becomes the bottom.
Android TV OS 12 or Earlier
In Basic Settings, set [Landscape/Portrait] to [Portrait] for full-screen display without black bars.。
Android TV OS 14 or Later
[Portrait] + [Default]
Set [Landscape/Portrait] to [Portrait] and [Playback Content] to [Default]. Content plays as created with black bars top and bottom.
Android TV OS 14 or Later
[Portrait] + [Full Screen]
Set [Landscape/Portrait] to [Portrait] and [Playback Content] to [Full Screen]. Content displays full screen on a portrait monitor.
For Portrait Content (9:16)
When creating content in portrait format for a portrait monitor, display varies by firmware version.
Android TV OS 12 or Earlier
Black bars appear top and bottom even when [Landscape/Portrait] is set to [Portrait]. For full-screen portrait display, create content in landscape format (16:9).
Android TV OS 14 or Later
[Portrait] + [Default]
Set [Landscape/Portrait] to [Portrait] and [Playback Content] to [Full Screen]. Content displays full screen on a portrait monitor.
Android TV OS 14 or Later
[Portrait] + [Full Screen]
Set [Landscape/Portrait] to [Portrait] and [Playback Content] to [Full Screen] in Basic Settings. Content displays full screen on a portrait monitor.
BGM Notes
- BGM applies to the entire system and cannot be set per playlist.
- BGM plays only during still images and mutes automatically during video or HTML playback.
- Use one long track to cover still image playback. Multiple short tracks may cause brief interruptions when switching.
